The present study aims to investigate the level of self-reported awareness of anticipatory body signals and its relationship to psychological trauma among a sample of adults. In this study, anticipatory body signals refer to the self-reported perception of physiological and behavioral responses that individuals experience proactively before a threatening event occurs, including perceived changes in heart rate, muscle tension, breathing patterns, and sweating, as well as predictive motor behaviors. The study adopted a descriptive-correlational design. The sample consisted of (200) adults, including (108) males and (92) females, selected through stratified random sampling based on sex and age group. Two self-report instruments were used: the Anticipatory Body Signals Scale (35 items) and the Psychological Trauma Scale (30 items), whose validity was established through face validity and construct validity (item discrimination, item-total correlations, and exploratory factor analysis), and reliability through Cronbach's alpha and test-retest methods. Results revealed a statistically significant positive correlation (r = 0.58, p < 0.01, R² = 0.34) between self-reported anticipatory body signals and psychological trauma, with a large effect size according to Cohen's (1988) criteria. Simple linear regression showed that psychological trauma accounted for 34% of the variance in anticipatory body signals. Key limitations include the reliance on self-report measures rather than direct physiological assessment, and the cross-sectional design which precludes causal inference. Based on the findings, conclusions, recommendations, and suggestions were presented.
